Are the testing fees and background check included?

No, your testing and background check fees are not included. You must pay prometric $155 for your state exam which is a separate expense from your training. 

You must also pay to get your background check and fingerprints done if you haven't done so within the last 5 years. 

 

Do I need any previous healthcare experience/ training to become a CNA?

​No prior training is needed to become a CNA or to take our test prep course. We specialize in training those without any prior knowledge on how to become certified in just One Week. Classes are quick and fast paced so come prepared to learn and let us do the rest. We offer private classes for those who need more individualized training. We also have 2 day Fast track classes designed for those who either learn quickly, are coming from out of town, or have had some previous healthcare training.

 

How much money does a CNA make?

The average salary for a Long Term Care Certified Nursing Assistant in Jacksonville, FL annually is $26,263. A brand new CNA with no experience typically starts at $10-$12 per hour. Keep in mind that the flexibility of being a CNA opens you up to many job opportunities and the ability to get overtime because there is currently a high demand for CNA's.

 

What are the requirements to become a CNA? How old do I have to be to become a CNA?

​A high school diploma or its equivalent.  If you do not have your high school diploma or GED then you must be at least 18 years of age (17 with parental permission).  Must pass the CNA competency examination- which is exactly what you will be learning how to do in our One Week Test Prep Course.

 

Do I have to be a Florida resident to attend this course? 

No. You can take this course without being a Florida resident. You do not need a Florida ID to take this course. You can also take the state exam without being a Florida resident and you can work here as well once licensed.

Can I use this license in another state? Can I transfer my license to another state?

Once you get certified here in Florida you will have to transfer your license to the state you wish to work following that states reciprocity process. via their board of nursing. You will have to look up your states requirements for transferring your license on your own as each state is different....GOOGLE it.

Do you offer online classes?

No. Our classes are 100% hands-on which requires you to attend in person. If you are out of state you will have to make accommodations to travel here to attend the program and to return for testing.  The nearest hotel to our center is the Courtyard by Marriott 9815 Lantern St. Jacksonville, FL (904)247-6782

How many times can I take the CNA competency examination?

Three times. If you fail the third time you must then go to an 120 hour approved training program.

 

How much is the test/CNA exam?

$155. The clinical skills portion of the exam is $120 and the written portion is $35 totaling $155. This is a separate fee from the One Week CNA Training course. All exam fees are paid directly to Prometric.

 

How can I become a CNA without going to school?

In the state of Florida you have the option to challenge the CNA competency exam without going to a state-approved training program or school as long as you are 18 years of age or have your high school diploma or its equivalent. Here at One Week CNA Training we teach you everything you need to know to challenge and pass the exam in just one week so that you can gain employment and get experience in your new career as fast as possible.

 

How does the payment plan work?

Your first deposit is minimum $100. Additional payments are $50 minimum and can be made as often as you like until your class is paid in full. All Payments Are NON-REFUNDABLE. ​ You have 3 months to pay off your class without forfeiting your funds. Courses must be paid in full before your first day of class. Please be sure you can pay off your class within the 90 day time frame before you make your first payment.

 

Do I need a background check?

Yes, in order to take your CNA test you will need to have your level 2 federal background check done through a Live Scan vendor. We offer this service here for $90. Please register here.. The ORI number for the FL Board of Nursing is EDOH038oZ

 

Can I still become a CNA with a criminal history?

​You will be required to list each offense on your application and submit all supporting documents to the board of nursing. Each application is reviewed and either accepted or denied on its own merits. 

 

What can I wear to class?

Any color scrubs are preferred since all skills are hands-on and may require bending and lifting. If you do not have scrubs you can wear pants and shirt with closed toed shoes.  We also have scrubs and crocs available for purchase here at our location. No shorts, dresses, sandals, flip flops, tank tops or halter tops allowed.

 

Do I get a certificate of completion at the end?

Yes. You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of your course. This is not your CNA license. You must pass both parts of the state exam to receive your CNA license from the state of Florida board of Nursing. But don't worry- this is exactly what we prepare you for. We guarantee you will pass our course or you can take our refresher course again for FREE!

Do you offer refresher courses?

Yes, but only for our students. If you have attended our program and have received your test date please call us to schedule your free 1 hour refresher course. Please attend your free course as scheduled. If you miss your free refresher course you will be charged a $25 fee to be rescheduled.

Can I get a refund?

No. We are unable to process refunds so please be sure to check your schedule to ensure you can attend the class you signed up for. If you cannot attend the class you scheduled please give us a call to be rescheduled at least 48hrs before your training. You will have 90days to be rescheduled provided you canceled your class at least 48hrs before its original start date.

Can I be rescheduled?

You can be rescheduled once for free within 90days as long as you have called to cancel your class at least 48hrs before its start date. Please call to be rescheduled. If you need to be rescheduled more than once you will forfeit your $100 deposit and will have to register again online with another deposit.

Where do I take the CNA state exam?

HERE! We are an In-Facility testing center for the state so if you took our program you can test here too. If you did not attend our program you will have to test at another location. You will receive your test date within 30-90days after you have submitted your state exam application and been approved by Prometric. If you do not wish to test here you are able to take your test at any Prometric regional test site in FLORIDA.

I am still waiting on my test date. Something is wrong with my state exam application!

Once you have submitted your state exam application it can take average 30-90days to get an exam date AFTER you have been approved. If that time frame has been exceeded please follow up with Prometric. 888-277-3500 If something is wrong with your application please follow up with Prometric. We have no control over who is placed for testing here, you will have to contact Prometric. We have no control over the time it takes to get placed for testing here, you will have to contact Prometric. We cannot make changes to your application once submitted you will have to contact Prometric. 

If your application has been approved for testing please be sure to TEXT (904)651-1420 your full name and Prometric ID# so we can email Prometric to assist with getting you on our test roster.

Please note the school is not open all day long for walk-ins, however, you may call at any time for information or to make an appointment to come in to meet with an instructor. 

 

Testing fees are separate from the training fees. The state exam application is $155 and background check fees are $90. You can pay these fees after the training is complete. You will receive a certificate of completion from our program after the training is over but you must pass  your state exam before you can get your CNA license.
